If you know my family at all, you know that skiing is a really big deal to us. Our kids are competitive freestyle skiers and racers. It is a safe bet that you can find me on the snow with my kids from December (hopefully sooner if the weather cooperates) thru March. It is what we do. The last few weekends have been filled with high stress road trips to ski competitions and gymnastics meets. Those road trips are fun, but they are hectic and stressful for all of us. Not President's weekend. We packed up the kids and headed out to Powder Country. We went skiing in Utah...for fun...and only fun. It was awesome. We soaked up 4 whole days of uninterrupted family time. No competitions, no practice, no homework...just fun. It was awesome. I know I am going to lose at least 2 of my 3 kids to the Rocky Mountains the minute they turn 18. So, for now, I am going to absorb as much of that joy and love of the sport with them as I can. We skied Park City and Snowbird. This was the kids first trip to Utah. They have been to Colorado many times, but Utah is different. The snow is different. Powder, and lots of it.
I would be remiss if I left out the fact that the second day of our trip while skiing trees with my husband, I hit a buried stump and got tangled up with a tree. Long story short, 2 hairline fractures. Moral of the story...wear a helmet. If I weren't wearing a helmet, this would be a very different story. Yes, I continued to ski on it for the remainder of the trip because I am stubborn like that.
